Janie Meneely grew up sailing on the Bay and has spent most of her adult life chasing down stories about the people, places and history of her "big backyard." She's managed over the years to encrypt many of those stories in songs and performed on stages around the country, including Mystic Seaport's prestigious Sea Music Festival and the Chicago Maritime Festival. When she's not busy editing Chesapeake Bay Magazine, she's working on new musical material and sailing her little Tartan 27. She talked and sang for our meeting.
October 17 Oktoberfest
Thirteen members and spouses enjoyed a lovely, relaxing afternoon at the Old Dominion Boat Club on Saturday, 17 October. Due to the low attendance, we decided to eat upstairs, in the bar. We enjoyed drinks and lunch from the club's bar and a nice view of the Potomac River. A good time was had by all. If you were not there, we missed you and you missed a great afternoon.
